Utah’s #1 Annual Celebration of Liberty!

The Utah Libertarian Party was founded in 1971, fifty years ago this fall. Come and join as we celebrate our Golden Anniversary!

We are pleased to welcome Marshall Burt, Representative for Wyoming’s 39th District! In 2020 Marshall became the first Libertarian elected to a state legislature in 20 years. He’ll be with us to talk about being a legislator as a Libertarian, and how we can take the lessons of his victory and apply them to our legislative races here in Utah.

We also welcome the Chair of the national Libertarian Party, Joe Bishop-Henchman, who will join us to bring up news about the past election season, plus the many new initiatives that are underway to insure that we elect more Libertarians to office across the country and how you can help make that a reality!

We will be joined by video call by our 2020 Vice Presidential candidate, Spike Cohen, for some inspiration about spreading liberty.

Our primary business this year is to elect our Executive Committee for the party for the next two-year term – Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer. This is also the time to address changes to either the party constitution or the bylaws. The text of those proposals will be posted on the party website no less than 30 days prior to the convention so you will have plenty of opportunity to consider them prior to the convention. One proposal that has been mentioned would add an At Large member to the Executive Committee, and if that were to pass then it would be followed by an election for that office.

On Saturday morning, we will begin credentialing at 8:30 AM, with the intent to call the convention to order at 9:30.

A lunch will be available on Saturday as an option. We are requesting a minimum $25 donation to offset the expense of catering. A lunch donation is not a requirement for attending the convention, but we think you’ll enjoy both the food and the conversation! (Entree choice is available in the registration process.)

There will be an informal gathering on Friday evening, for those who would like to enjoy some casual time together.

If you are traveling to Ogden from outside the area and need accommodations, rooms are available to those who register for the convention at a rate of $84 per night for either a king or two queens. The rate includes breakfast, and is available both Friday and Saturday nights. A reservation link will be provided with your registration confirmation.

To be a delegate entitled to vote on state party business, there are two qualifications. First, you should be registered to vote in Utah as a Libertarian. Second, you must have joined the state party, and have made a minimum donation of $20 within the 12 months following the previous convention (since May 1, 2019). If you have not made your donation but wish to, you may do so as part of the registration process, as long as the donation is made by March 26, 2020, thirty days prior to the convention. If you meet these qualifications, please register as a delegate; if not, you are still invited to register as a guest – you are welcome at the Utah Libertarian Party convention!

We will be making arrangements for remote participation, even if the in person event is held. Those arrangements will be announced later.

NOTE: We are following the news in regard to Covid-19 and will react accordingly. Should it become necessary to cancel, any payments made for meals or events will be refundable, and rooms reserved through our link may be cancelled up to 4 PM on the day of arrival. It appears unlikely this will be necessary, and we hope for the best.
